The Jaguar XK 120 SE DHC (SE for Special Equipment) has a 3442 cc engine with an output of 180 bhp (132 kW). It drives the rear wheels via a four-speed transmission with middle gear.

It is the first Jaguar engine with two overhead camshafts (dohc), which until then had only been dared in the smallest series production. Nevertheless, a masterpiece of reliability and performance succeeded straight away, which was installed in vehicles of the manufacturer and also in military vehicles until 1992. The diagonally hanging valves result in an almost hemispherical combustion chamber, which was considered the perfect shape at the time.

The SE equipment included the more powerful 180 bhp machine (134 kW), more extensive equipment and wire wheels (which eliminated the spats). With this engine a top speed of 210 km / h could be reached.

On the outside, the stronger car was recognizable by its double exhaust. The SE package also included harder springs on the wheel suspensions. The SE was built until 1954.
